Explore London’s literary history with our guided tours

Book your tour

Hello and welcome to Literatours.

We currently run our classic tour of the literary history of Southwark three times a day on the weekends.

Our tour is a gentle ramble around Southwark that takes in the haunts of Shakespeare, Dickens, Keats and more, and interweaves the history of the area with performances of their work by our guides.

Our guides are all local writers and actors. Our FAQs are below but please do reach out to us over email or Instagram if you have any questions.

We hope to see you on a tour soon.

FAQs

When do the tours run?

We run three tours a day on the weekends starting at 9am, 11am and 12 noon.

How long do the tours last?

The tours last 90 minutes.

Where do they start?

Just outside the George Tavern on Borough High Street.

Where do they end?

Beside Shakespeare’s Globe by the River Thames.

How much do they cost?

The tours are free to book and you decide how much to pay your guide at the end. Your guides keep all the money from the tours.

We used to be on TripAdvisor and GetYourGuide (and five-star reviewed) but they simply wanted too much and didn’t give us a great deal in return. So, here we are with our own booking platform.

Who we are

Literatours was established by local writer and spoken word performer Adam RW. It is still run by Adam along with a collective of friendly local writers and artists who are our tour guides. Their passion for the local area and its literary history is why they run these tours.
